In Loving Memory of Raymond


It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Cecil Gould age 92 of Amherst on Saturday, August 12, 2023 with family by his side at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.

Born in Nappan, NS, he was the son of the late Oscar and Matilda (MacDonald) Gould.

Raymond worked for over 40 years for Robb Engineering doing various jobs.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, a good game of cribbage and spending time at the beach with family. He was well known for playing ball, pitching for the K of C softball team, bowling and his many years involved in tug of war.

Raymond was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2916 being fourth degree knight and past grand knight.

He was a volunteer firefighter in his earlier years and a member of the St. Charles Parish Council.

Raymond will be remembered for his family values and always being there for his family and friends.

Raymond will be missed by his daughters, Raelene (Robert) Bird and Maria (Colin) Campbell; sons, Richard (Ferne), David (Kathy) and Fred (Karen) all of Amherst; granddaughters, Jennifer (Adam) Dickinson, Melissa (Shawn) Demill, Stephanie Bird (Mike), Natalie (Ryan) Crowe and Jillian Gould (Junior); grandsons, Jeffrey, Daniel (Elyse), Ryan (Lisa), Matthew (Alyssa), Alex (Jenn) and Tyler (Jenna); great grandchildren, Kaleb, Cody, Blake, Tessa, Mackenzie, Connor, Kahlan, Parker, Rylee, Avery, Noah, Elliott Anne, Casey and Elliott Olivia; sister Pauline Comeau; sister in law Sharon Gould, Barbara Gould, Christine Gould, Madeleine Vautour, Andrea Rhindress and Doreen Legere; brothers in law, Aris Legere and Edgar (Jolene) Legere; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Eva (Legere) Gould; sisters Dorothy Estabrooks and Muriel Legere; brothers Norman, Lawrence, Arthur and Stanley.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 6 – 8pm held in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11am held in Holy Family Parish with Father Gregory Agyeman officiating.

Raymond will be laid to rest beside his wife Eva in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
Donations can be made in Raymond’s memory to the Kidney Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
