In Loving Memory of Sharon


It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of Sharon Ann Hire-White age 84 of Amherst and formerly of Moncton, NB on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Gables Lodge in Amherst.

Born in Amherst, NS, Sharon was a daughter of the late Roland “Bud” and Yvonne (Mills) Hire.

Sharon was raised in Amherst and left for Halifax to work Acadian Lines. She then married moving to Sorel, QC, where she lived and had her 3 boys in Montreal, QC later moving to Port Hawkesbury, NS where she was a figure skating instructor, followed by a move to Calgary, AB where Sharon worked for the Welcome Wagon. Their next adventure took them to Thunder Bay, ON where she worked as a bridal show representative. She then moved to Moncton, NB to be closer to family.

Sharon re-connected with her now husband, Gerald in 1989 at a high school reunion.
They moved to Amherst in 2017.

In her spare time, Sharon was an amateur photographer, and enjoyed writing poetry. She even sold some of her photographic work of nature and wildlife throughout the years.

Sharon loved to play bridge with her friends in Moncton where she lived for 27 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her soulmate, Gerald, children, Michael, Steven (Lee) and Jeffrey (Laura) all of Edmonton, AB, grandchildren, Devon and Karlee, step children, Michael (Robin) Legere, Trail, BC, Karen (Don) Boulerice, Amherst, NS, Annette (Frank) Shoniker, Ashton, ON, Monique (Dan) Sullivan, Amherst, step grandchildren William, Miguel, James, Lane and Katelyn, sisters Linda and Jan, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Richard Hire.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Amherst.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Hospice Palliative Care Society or to the Residents Council of Gables Lodge.

Gerry we are sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. I will always remember Sharon fondly. I first met her at the 'ladies luncheons' at the shore and always enjoyed my times with her.
