Lida Kierstead

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lida Katherine (Taylor) Kierstead, wife of the late Kenneth H. Kierstead, announce her unexpected passing on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at home with her son by her side.

Lida was the eldest daughter of the late George M. and Catherine J. (Emery) Taylor. Born in Fairville, NB on September 20, 1932, Lida attended Saint John High School and Modern Business College. She worked for many years in the Saint John area as a bookkeeper/office manager until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, George F. Kierstead, sisters; Evangeline (Eva) Lee, Myrtelle (Albert) Speight, Judith (Kenneth) Galbraith and brother Donald Taylor. She also leaves to mourn, her sister-in-law, Carole Taylor, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and several cousins and her special cousin Marion Stewart of Holliston, Massachusetts.

Besides her parents and husband, Lida was pre-deceased by her sisters; Mary Taylor, Ellen (Duckie) Ryder, Eveline Scott, Doris Taylor, brothers; George E. Taylor, Alban Taylor, and an infant brother, as well as her half-sisters; Mable Sproul and Margaret Fagan.

Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB (634-1701). Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Thursday, June 14 from 12 PM-1 PM, with a service to follow at 1:30 PM in the Castle Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery immediately after. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
