Eleanor Alberta Trimble
Obituary Overview
Eleanor Alberta Trimble
It is with profound sadness that our family advises of the passing of Eleanor Alberta Trimble (nee Wiggett) of Winnipeg, MB on June 15, 2023.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband, William Trimble (Bill) and her three children, Jennifer (Greg) Thain of Winnipeg, MB, David Trimble (Kelly Cosgrove) of Pemberton, BC and Crystal (Sean) Griffin of Winnipeg, MB; her sister Esther (Byron) Clarke of Ninette, MB. Eleanor also leaves her faithful companion dog Gracie. Eleanor is survived by an extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Eleanor was predeceased by both of her parents, William (Bill) and Grace Wiggett and her sister Elvena St.Laurent.
Eleanor was born on January 21, 1945 in Glenboro, MB and raised in Stockton, MB. She met Bill in 1960 and married in 1965 in Stockton, MB and then moved to Winnipeg to start their married life together and raise their family. Eleanor and Bill were fortunate to have 58 years of a loving marriage. Eleanor spent her career as a nursing assistant at Holiday Haven and West Park Manor until she retired in 2007.
Eleanor had several hobbies and passions that included crafting, knitting, painting, coloring, and reading. She loved feeding and watching birds in her yard, tending to her beautiful flowers, baking sweet treats, and cooking delicious meals. Eleanor had a keen sense of fashion and loved to go shopping for a new outfit, spending time with Bill at their seasonal trailer where she enjoyed being the golf rules official for Bill as she joined him for his round of golf. Eleanor was never afraid to speak her mind infused with a quirky and spunky sense of humor. Eleanor enjoyed travelling, going to concerts, attending Rainbow Stage productions, movies and going for lunch and dinner with her family.
Eleanor struggled with health issues for many years, having to be on kidney dialysis for 10 years before she was fortunate to receive a donor kidney transplant in 2009. The transplant regained her quality of life, giving her fourteen wonderful years until she became ill in March of this year. Eleanor was hospitalized in May and due to many unforeseen complications was not able to leave the hospital and return home.
Our family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and spiritual professionals at Health Science Centre who provided Eleanor with amazing care and compassion to our family as we navigated through this tough time. We would also like to thank Reverend Dr. Michael Wilson from Charleswood United Church for his phone calls and personal visits to the hospital to visit with Eleanor and provide spiritual support to our family.
Our family takes great solace knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones in the loving embrace of God.
A service of remembrance for Eleanor will take place on Wednesday, June 21st at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg, MB at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Wednesday June 21st at 2:00 p.m.
