Blair MacDonald – Fall River, NS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blair MacDonald age 59 of Fall River, NS on Sept.23rd 2021 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Blair was raised in Yarmouth until he began his career with Canada Border Services in Kentville. Blair worked with CBSA for 36 years, with the last 18 years as a criminal investigator. Over those years, Blair was the recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for his work organizing Christmas gifts for families in need. Blair was also the recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution to law enforcement and the Peace Officer Exemplary Service Medal. Blair took great pride with his job and will be truly missed by his colleagues he called dear friends.

Blair was known as an organizer. While living in Kentville he organized three white water rafting trips to Maine. He was always organizing something special such as Apple Blossom weekends, murder mystery dinners, Fall River volleyball, or Friday night socials. Blair enjoyed hunting with his dad, camping, volleyball, and his many trips to Punta Cana with his family. He treasured the many years proudly watching daughter Haley play soccer. He never missed a game and enjoyed the time spent with the soccer families.

Blair was a loving husband and father. He was kind, generous and loved his family deeply. He faced cancer with hope and determination, and never complained even when life was challenging.

Blair is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (Miller), son Kyle and daughter Haley. He is survived by his parents Burton and Florence MacDonald of Yarmouth, NS, nephew Chad and great nephew Ethan. He is predeceased by his brother Darren.

Thank you for the compassionate care of Homecare, VON, and the Oceanview staff. Most of all thank you to his many dear friends and neighbours, and family who supported Blair and his family through his difficult cancer journey.

There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be on Sept.28 at 11am at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 3534 Hwy 2, Fall River. Reverend Carl Fraser officiating with interment to follow in cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Blair’s memory to St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River, NS.

Rest in peace. You may have left us, but your memory will be with us forever.

Condolences from family and friends

So sorry to hear about Blair's passing and my condolences to his family. I have fond memories of working with Blair first as summer students at Customs and Excise in Yarmouth and then full time in Kentville. While we kept in touch for the first few years after I moved to Ottawa, we gradually lost track of each other. What I remember most about Blair was his considerable work ethic and kindness shown to his co-workers.

Our hearts go out to Blair's family and friends in the Atlantic Region and across the CBSA. Blair collected many friends along his path in the Agency and he will be greatly missed as a dogged investigator and a great friend.
