Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

Dr. Peter Alan Loveless died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton, on March 7, 2022, in his 84th year.

Predeceased by his beloved parents Edward and Noreen Loveless, and his lovely daughter Diana, Peter will be forever in the hearts of his wife Lenore; their children Ian, David, Michael, and Adrienne; their beloved grandchildren Christine, Sarah, James, and Lauren; sons-in-law John Cowling and David Ziemer; daughters-in-law Erin Riggin and Rozita Roshan; his sister Wendy Wakeham; and his dear extended family in Australia. He will also be missed by many friends and colleagues.

Born in British Hong Kong in 1938 and raised in Bondi Beach, Australia, Peter graduated from The University of Sydney Medical School in 1963. It was during his residency at Fairfield Hospital in Sydney, Australia, that he met his future wife Lenore and they began their 58-year journey together. In 1967, Peter and Lenore left Australia with their two young children, and after a short stint in London, England, settled in the Hamilton area.

Peter was a traditional family physician, delivering hundreds of babies, performing thousands of circumcisions, vasectomies & minor surgical procedures, and making house calls and hospital visits in addition to his busy family practice. He even arranged private transportation for his patients to and from the office during an HSR bus strike. He was very dedicated and cared deeply for his patients, maintaining practices in Hamilton and Hagersville, and retiring in 2012 after 50 years in practice.

Those closest to him will remember his favorite pastimes: watching his tennis idol Roger Federer, long time viewer and supporter of PBS, extensive travel in their Pace Arrow RV, and timesharing in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was a long-time squash member of The Hamilton Thistle Club, where he won several individual and team titles, served as club president, and ran the annual Thistle Invitational for many years. He loved The Beatles, jazz, especially big band, and, of course, his musical idol, Billie Holiday.

Our family would like to thank the compassionate, hardworking team at Idlewyld Manor for their wonderful care and support.

Family will receive friends at DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME – ANCASTER CHAPEL (378 Wilson Street East, 905-648-3852) on Monday, March 14th from 6pm-8pm. A funeral service in the chapel will be held on Tuesday, March 15th at 2pm. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peter’s memory to Idlewyld Manor/Thrive Group

Thanks for taking care of us. We love you and we'll miss you. "Call me, Papa."

Sincere condolences to Lenore and all the Loveless families. Dr. Peter was our family physician throughout his Hagersville and Hamilton years until his retirement. He was a true example of what a doctor should be - dedicated, compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and always willing to listen. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us for so many years.
