Obituary Overview

Christine Ann Macdonald

Christine Ann Macdonald (Donahoe) passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022. Born in Montreal, where she grew up with her three brothers. She was an active youngster, often found climbing trees and playing road hockey with the neighborhood kids. She also enjoyed watching the Canadiens play at the Montreal Forum, especially when Maurice "the Rocket" Richard was on the ice. She spent her summers in Halifax with extended family and had fond memories of swimming in the Northwest Arm.

She later returned to Halifax to attend Mount Saint Vincent University, where she received her Arts degree. This was followed up with her degree in Library Science at McGill University.

She met her husband, John on a blind date set up by family members. They settled in Halifax where they raised their two children, David and Sheila. She enjoyed playing with them as youngsters and going on school trips with them as they grew older.

After her family, Christine's greatest love were the many dogs owned over the years. A long time breeder of Golden Retrievers and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, her favourite activity was playing with the puppies, socializing them and preparing them for their new families. Their happiness was her priority.

After John's passing, she spent her remaining years at the Sagewood in Lower Sackville. She enjoyed the many activities offered, especially Bingo and Music. A particular favourite was "big game hunting" with Nerf guns. Her face would light up whenever she made a "hit". She also loved spending time chatting with the staff in the dining room. She often made them laugh with her antics.

Christine is predeceased by her husband John, her son David and her brother Robert. She leaves behind daughter Sheila (Doug) and brothers Ian and Michael (Deb).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 2-4pm from the Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
