We Cater to Culturally Inspired Funerals for Filipino-Canadians

We tailor the funeral experience to each family, whether it involves visitations, a service, or group activities that you need to honour the memory of those you love. Need lamay or paglalamay, we’re proud to support all Filipino-Canadian families and to have. All our locations at Arbor Memorial make it possible for you to do your lamay in privacy.

We know you need only the very best when you’re making the final preparations for your loved ones, and we tailor the viewing itself to suit your traditional Filipino practices. One way in which we stand out is by using a white casket ,which is offered whether the person will be buried or cremated after the lamay.

If you have any additional requests for the casket, our expert team will provide guidance on how to best accommodate them. For us, these have included removing the shoes of the deceased or placing a knife between the casket’s cushion and the back of their loved ones. The latter tradition symbolizes preventing another family member from “following” them too soon before their time.

We Offer World-Class Mausoleums

Arbor’s many locations offer both indoor and outdoor mausoleums in addition to traditional cemetery gardens. Our indoor options provide important benefits to families who want to visit throughout the year, including during the cold winter months. Our temperature-controlled buildings are easy to access with elevators, and space to put flowers in a vase throughout the year. Our mausoleums are also beautiful spaces with statues, benches, and even spaces for private family chapels.

Cremation Options and Meaningful Keepsakes

Cremation has become increasingly common across Canada, including within the Filipino Canadian community. Arbor’s locations offer many options for a final place of rest in our cremation gardens and columbaria, including glass-front niches which allow families to include meaningful keepsakes beside the urn. We Live and Serve in Your Community

Some of the most meaningful feedback we receive from our Filipino Canadian families is that Arbor’s locations put the community first. We’re residents of the towns and cities we work in, which means we see each person as our neighbour and we show them the utmost respect. This is especially important in the Filipino Canadian community, where connections are so strong and where seeing familiar Filipino last names in our cemeteries is an important deciding factor on where they will be laid to rest.
