Nelly Gluzman


Nelly Gluzman(Née Goldblatt)A Holocaust Survivor Peacefully, at home,
surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 two days after turning one
hundred. A survivor of the Holocaust, she was a dedicated member of the
Windsor, Ontario community after moving from Israel in 1968. Nelly was a
long-time member of the Windsor Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue and was part of the
volunteer kitchen crew that prepared baked goods for Shabbat, festivals and
special occasions. She was a Hadassah-WIZO volunteer of the year and well known
for helping out at Mazel Tov restaurant adjacent to the Windsor Jewish
Community Center into her 90s. Nelly wed her adoring late husband Litman
Gluzman in Cyprus while waiting to reside in Israel after the British refused
their ship entry. Nelly and Litman were among the first families to establish a
residence in Be’er Sheva in the newly formed country before immigrating to
Canada. Devoted daughter of the late Yosef Goldblatt and the late Sara
Goldblatt, who perished in the Holocaust. Loving mother of Ora Davy (Gluzman).
Proud grandmother of Amirav Davy and his wife Naomi Goloff of Montreal and Erez
Davy and his wife Jessica Davy of New Jersey. Enamored great grandmother, known
as Savta Rava, Savtie or Great Savta, of Avigail, Simon, Ella and Julia. She is
also survived by a beloved brother Itzu Goldblatt of Israel. Nelly came from a
large family and will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and entire
extended family. Many thanks to the dedicated caregivers who helped her live
comfortably in her home and treated her like one of their own and to the
palliative care team from the Mount Sinai Hospital Center and the CLSC. Private
graveside service to take place in Windsor, Ontario. Shiva private in Montreal.
