A funeral is a timeless tradition that has given families a chance to say goodbye for thousands of years. It is a place where a special life can be honoured, their values and accomplishments can be celebrated, and a place where family can begin to heal. There is so much more a funeral provides than simply a eulogy and biblical quotes; it is a way to commemorate a life and all those it touched.
Say More Than Just Goodbye
Valley View Funeral Home offers four serene visitation rooms where you can receive friends and family in a soothing environment. Traditionally this is done before the funeral service, giving others a chance to offer one-on-one condolences, love and support.
Often, a visitation period proceeds the service. Receiving family and friends through a visitation provides support, and allows others to express their love and concern for you. Our four quiet visitation rooms provide a soothing atmosphere for attendees.
Planning a Service and Reception
You can choose between two stunning chapels at Valley View Funeral Home & Cemetery; the Valley View Chapel seats over 325 family members and friends, while the Arbor Chapel seats over 120. But don’t feel you are required to have a traditional, clergy-led function. There are endless ways to pay homage to your loved one in a style that reflects their passions. We can offer services that cater to the traveller, the reader, the sports fan, the crafter, the volunteer, and so many more. Send guests home with mementos that remind them of their loved one, or serve a personalized menu of favourite recipes and foods.
As you personalize the funeral, some things to consider include:
- Attributes or passions of the person who died that you want to be sure to honour
- Memories to share
- Important people to include
- Person to lead the ceremony
- Others who might want to speak or share memories
- Music ideas for the visitation and ceremony
- Readings for the ceremony
After the service, it can be comforting to host a reception where family and friends join together over a meal. We offer two large reception rooms with full kitchens and patios, as a private place to gather and remember.
