Claudia M McKeil, age 90, formerly of Lower Coverdale, passed away peacefully at Grass home in Riverview on March 2, 2022. Born in Fredericton she was the daughter of the late Claude and Marjorie Waugh. Claudia was a gifted and compassionate Teacher. She devoted the majority of her career to students with intellectual or developmental disabilities at various schools in Moncton and Riverview. Upon retiring, Claudia and Neil shared their love of traveling and enjoyed many trips abroad. The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Claudia. She took pride in her gardening, loved going on long drives, was an avid reader and enjoyed quiet evenings with a glass of wine. She had a deep love for animals and rescued many cats over the years. Not only did she love cats, but they were drawn to her. After nursing a stray cat back to health, it left only to bring back another which she lovingly took in. Family was everything to Claudia. We (her family) cherish the many memories of family gatherings she hosted. Claudia is predeceased by her husband Neil, daughter Debbie Crouse, 2 sisters Audrey Braid and Shirley Hersey. She will be sadly missed by her son Peter McKeil (Debra) of Burtts Corner, daughter Lori Swetnam (John) of Moncton, her grandchildren Erin, Terry, Jessica, Melissa, Kerry and Jamie plus 9 great grandchildren as well as son in law Wayne Crouse of Burtts Corner and her brother Donald Waugh (Nancy) of Saint John. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grass Home for all the care and compassion shown to Claudia during her stay. As per Claudia's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. An interment will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens in the spring and her family will have a celebration of life in her honour this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Carma – Cat Rescue Maritimes Moncton Chapter or your local SPCA.
