Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wayne St. John, our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and cousin. On February 6th, Wayne passed peacefully while holding his son James' hand, with his wife Melanie, and daughter Tylar by his side.

Wayne was devoted to his family and was a proud 57 year Ironworker with Local 721. He lived a full life, finding joy in family, the cottage, sports, fishing, music and photography. He was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan and woke up every Sunday morning to play shinny at St. Mike's Arena with the Wilsons. For many years he also played in the Milton Flag Football league with his brothers, André and Mike, and his son James. The Milton Football nights were always followed by good parties and great memories at André and Luisa's. He also enjoyed pick-up basketball at Emery Collegiate with close friends.

During the summer, Wayne enjoyed fishing at the cottage, his special place, and golfing, albeit not very well. Wayne spent many summer weekend nights at the Island for corn roasts, fish fries and wing dings. Most winters, Wayne flew south to Florida to spend time with his US family, the MacLeods and the Caccamos.

Wayne will be dearly missed by Melanie, James, Tylar, his daughter-in-law Gail, and his grandson and best buddy Dallas. He also leaves behind his brothers, André and Michael, and sisters Colleen, Charlene, Sharon, Kelly, his late sister Lynn and their partners and children. He will also be missed by his many cousins and his cottage family on Ware's Road (too numerous to name).

Wayne had been on his cancer journey for 3.5 years with never a complaint about his ongoing loss of quality of life. We thank the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Dorothy Ley Hospice and home nursing teams for their incredible care and support.

The family will share information about a celebration of life to be held later this year. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre or Dorothy Ley Hospice.
