Francisco Serpa

29-Oct-1945 - 07-May-2023

Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francisco (Chico) Serpa, who, from the City of Mississauga and at the age of seventy-seven years old, departed this world on May 7th, 2023.

Francisco was born in Ponta Negra, Terceira Azores on October 29th, 1945. He grew up in Terceira where he met his beautiful wife, Gilberta in Porto Martins. In 1972 Francisco immigrated to Canada, where he would start his new life. Francisco, a carpenter by trade worked for ARG construction, a company that became his first and only job and over the years would become like family.

Francisco was hard working and passionate about what he did and always said, “If you do something, do it well.” He was someone that you could count on to always tell you the truth. He was genuine in his actions and generous beyond compare. Francisco loved music, played the harmonica and piano. He loved to travel and though spontaneous with his adventures, he also loved his home, his garden and watching his shows. But most of all he loved his family.

Francisco is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Gilberta, along with their four children --Diana (Gilberto), Julie (Jeff), Frank (Jessica) and Sonya (Robert); and his grandchildren--Tomas, Sara, Simao, Julian, Layla, Olivia, Carlo, and Mila. He was preceded in death by his parents Constantino and Arminda Serpa and one of his grandchildren, Emma.
Francisco will be dearly missed by his siblings Maria Alda (Alberto), Jose Denis (Zelia), and Deolinda (Manuel), his brothers-in-law and their wives, many nieces, and nephews both here and in Terceira. He will forever be in the hearts of many.

“And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
-Ecclesiastes 12:7
