With heavy hearts, it is announced that Gertrudes Herrera or Nanay or Nanay Tuding of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the great age of 96.
She was born on March 17, 1927 in Concepcion, Tarlac, Philippines. She and husband Jose, who pre-deceased her in 2004, migrated to Canada in 1980. Their children Rey, Ruth and Rolando went with them while their daughters Rosalie and Renita were already living there. Daughter Rebecca was left behind in Quezon City, Philippines with husband Rolly. Nanay was 53 at the time and her husband 55. She worked in various capacities with various organizations until she retired at the age of 65 from Leisureworld Senior Care in Toronto.
Nanay will be eternally remembered by her children - Rebbie, Rosalie, Renita, Rey, Ruth and Rolando and their spouses Rolly, Henry, Peter, Eddie, and Gigi; and her brothers Dr. Marcelo Canlas, Blas Canlas, Raul Canlas and Noel Canlas, her sisters Milagros Canlas - Henson, Fay Canlas and in laws Rudy Henson, Alma Canlas and Paz Canlas; her grandchildren - Ron, Ryan and Robin, Melanie, and Lindsey; Melody, Glenn, Chantel, Valerie, Bruno, Connie, and Kevin; Rachel, Sherwin, Chris and Tyra; Pia, Russell and Angela; Stephen, Jonathan, Anna and Karen, Julian, Jade and Michael and great grandchildren Jessa, Lucas and Jethro; Jessalenn, Shaolin, Jadon, and Sylis; Chauneey, Carter, and Raydon; and Theresa; and Wilson. Temi and Po; Marcus; Winter, Kira, Angelene, Kali and Kenji and all her loving nephews and nieces and their families and aunts, uncles, cousins and their families in Canada, in the USA and in the Philippines.
She was a loving mother who sacrificed her whole life for her children. Up to her last breath, she was thinking of her children. She is best remembered as a happy, helpful, caring and sociable person. People were attracted to her. So she had many friends. She was very sociable, and she loved to travel here in Canada, in the US and in Europe, and to go to the beach and lastly but not least, to dance.
