Obituary Overview

A Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Smith, Janet Lynn (nee Barrie)

June 13, 1958 – November 8, 2020

Passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Garry Smith. Loving mother of her son Jason Komin and her “Near Kids”: Allison (Craig) MacKay, Jennifer (Dexter) Geddes, and Kyle Smith. Much loved grandmother of Emily, Jack and Cooper MacKay. Much loved sister of David (Deb) Barrie. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Sharon (Peter) Kyte.  Janet was a long time Sears Associate.  She enjoyed swimming and was an avid swimmer with the group at Erin Meadows. Janet will be missed by all of her awesome neighbours and by her “Cuba friends” (our happy place). Special thanks to the incredible front line health care workers.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic building restrictions, a private gathering will be held.

In memory of Janet, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Peel. Please click on the donation tab above to make an online donation.

Garry, We had the immense pleasure to see Janet on the pool deck bright and early every morning. She always greeted us with the biggest smile, and loved telling us how she was spoiled by her children during family celebrations. Much love to you and your family from the Erin Meadows Lifeguards (Taylor, Victoria, Amanda, Emily, Tori and Rebecca)
