Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

Joyce Kellock Boyer (Nee McLaren)

1926-2017

It is with great sadness that we announce Joyce Kellock Boyer passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in Oakville, Ontario on Tuesday April 25th, 2017.
Joyce was the daughter of renowned artist Alex McLaren and an accomplished artist in her own right. She was an esteemed member of the Lakeshore Artists Association in Montreal’s West Island for many years and then later of the Oakville Art Society in Oakville Ontario. While an artist of many talents, she is best known for her paintings of children in many different scenarios which soon became known as “The Kellock Kids”. UNICEF, Governor General Roland Michener, hockey commentator Ron Maclean and numerous others were and are proud owners of her artwork.

She leaves behind her loving husband Ed Boyer and his 4 children Pat, Don, Raymond and Lyn and their families, her 3 children, Linda, Bob, and Peter and their families, her loving brother Ian McLaren and his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as the many wonderful cousins and members of the McLaren, MacPherson and Kellock clans, the loving Lunn family, and many friends inside and outside of the art world.

A memorial service for her will take place on Saturday, May 27th at 4:00PM at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Ontario) with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers we’d ask that you make a donation to a long term care facility of your choice in your neighbourhood.

Joyce was my first art teacher when I took lessons at her home in Roxboro Quebec. I met her one more time at the Oakville Art Society when I attended a show my daughter in-law's aunt Mrs. Jean Brown. She was still effervescent, charming and so kind. This is a great loss to all. Maureen Meehan Msc.Ed
