The family of Louis (Wigi) Sultana are deeply saddened to announce his passing on March 31, 2023 at the age of 80. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Irene; and daughters Annette and Sylvia, along with son-in-law, Lou, and beloved grandsons, Anthony (Lauren) and Lucas.
Louis was born in Gozo, Malta on June 4, 1942 to Grace and John Sultana, and was one of seven children. Louis met his future wife on February 10, 1959. They were 15 and 16 years old and were married exactly 4 years later on February 10, 1963. Louis always wanted to experience life beyond Malta. Louis and Irene immigrated to Australia shortly after their wedding and welcomed Annette later that year, and Sylvia 18 months after that. They returned to Malta for three years and came to Canada in 1971.
Louis was good with his hands and was introduced to construction by his father at a young age. He worked in several factories, but a chance meeting with an old friend in the early 1980s allowed him the opportunity to make a living in construction and renovation until his retirement. Louis always had a woodworking project on the go, but he especially enjoyed building sheds and decks.
Louis cherished his immediate family and always worried about his daughter, Annette, who was born with a neuromuscular disorder and uses a wheelchair. He cared deeply about his extended family who all lived abroad, and was especially fond of his brothers-in-law Joe, John, and George. Louis had many friends with whom he kept in touch. He loved the time he spent at the cottage with his buddy, Angelo; his days on the job with partner, Angelo; and those daily walks at Square One with Louis (Wigi).
Louis’ family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Susanna Cheng and staff at Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre for the care and support they provided to Louis and his family over the years; and to Dr. Rehana Dosani and the staff of Unit 2C at Trillium Health Partners (CVH) for their care and compassion in the last weeks of Louis’ life. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, 5-8 PM at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, Oakville. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023, 3-4 PM followed by refreshments 4-6 PM at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, Oakville.

Our sincere condolences to the Sultana family and friends of the family. Peter and I are so grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing Annette's father Louis and his family. He welcomed us in his home and at the family cottage with such open hearted warmth. He is so deserving of the deep love expressed by all who knew him. Annette's dear father was a true gentle man of goodness with a giving heart and talented hands. He will not be forgotten. Jenny and Peter
