Manuel DeSousa passed away peacefully on Sunday April 16, 2023 a few months short of his 96th birthday. He was born on August 26, 1927 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal the son of Diamantina Garcia and Jacinto Tavares.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosa DeSousa (nee DaSilva 2017) of 60 years. Loving father of Manny Tavares (Lucy) and Nell-Maria Benevides (John). Adored Grandpa of Christopher and Brandon.
Manuel leaves behind his brothers Jose Tavares (Osvalda) and Joao Tavares (Lourdes). Predeceased by his brother Jacinto Tavares and sister Alexandra Tavares.
He is remembered by many nieces and nephews and cherished cousins and friends in Canada and Portugal.
Dad enjoyed spending time in the garden soaking up the warm sunshine during the summer months. In the winter time, he was never far from the roaring fire accompanied by his cats Puffy and later on Mickey who were adored and pampered.
The family wish to thank the incredible staff of Post Inn Village and particularly those in Oak North for the exceptional care of Dad and kindness to family in Dad’s final days.
The family welcomes all who would like to attend Manuel’s visitation and funeral service at Glen Oaks Funeral Home 3164 Ninth Line Oakville on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A service will be held at Glen Oaks Chapel on Friday April 21 at 11:00am. Burial will be immediately after the chapel ceremony. A reception to follow.
