It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Pawelchuk on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the age of 85.
Mike will be missed by his loving wife Margaret Pawelchuk of 62 years. Mike was a loving father to Vicki Pawelchuk-Craig (Alan Craig) and Bob Pawelchuk.
He is predeceased by sisters Anne (Richard) Carlough and Lynn (Jack) Rush. He was the proud uncle to Janis (Paul) Fisher, Joanne (Bobby) Synfelt, Jerry (Lynn) Carlough, Bob (Fran) Rush, Jackie (Linda) Rush.
Loved by brothers-in-law Russell (Laurence) Ross, Alan Ross (deceased) (Jackie Gordon), Michael Ross (Jennifer Rostek), and all his nieces and nephews.
Mike enjoyed playing hockey over a span of four decades, baseball, football, curling, bowling, golf and darts. He officiated football, baseball and hockey and coached football for several years.
He began his career with Bell Canada as a Technical Engineer and went on to hold a management position at Nortel. After his retirement, he consulted as a Certified ISO Environment CSQP.
He was a devoted Community Living Mississauga Board Member and volunteer for 33 years. He also served on the Garth Trails Condominium Board and Shared Facilities Committee.
He will be remembered fondly by his family and many friends. Rest in peace Mike, your journey has come to an end.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29th in the Glen Oaks Chapel, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Glen Oaks Reception Centre from 3:30 to 5:30 pm to share fond memories of Mike.
Heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care Mike received from Dr. B. Leber, Dr. A. Fernandes and all the nursing staff at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton.
We would also like to thank the nursing staff and everyone at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice where he received special care and attention for the short time he was in their care.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, a donation to Community Living Mississauga, Juravinski Hematology Unit Cancer Centre, or Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
