Stephen Keen

Obituary Overview

Forever In Our Hearts

It is with deep sadness that the family of Stephen Keen announce his passing on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023 in his 83rd year in Oakville, Ontario.

Stephen is predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis.  Caring father to Stephen and Jason.  Loving uncle and great-uncle.

Predeceased by his parents Jean (nee Goulding) and Stephen Keen.  Stephen is survived by his brother Paul and
his sister Janice.

Stephen came to Canada as a young man, arriving in British Columbia where he worked as an electrician on the rail lines.  He then moved to Toronto and had a long career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.  In later days his department was bought by Hewlett-Packard where he worked until he retired.

He loved to travel to the east coast, especially Nova Scotia, on vacations with his family and later with just his wife, where he’d always be sure to do a bit of fishing.  He spoke often and fondly of Australia which he very much would have liked to have visited again to see his family there.  He enjoyed sitting by the lake with a coffee, photography, stamp collecting, model trains, and classic movies.

Stephen’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the
Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the care and support they provided.

My late husband David and I had many wonderful memories of the summer get togethers with Steve and Phyllis and the rest of the gang at Pauline and Dick's home. These visits were a much treasured annual event and David was really pleased to find a fellow Formula 1 racing enthusiast in Steve. Both Steve and Phyllis will be greatly missed.

Thank you Steve for being a great husband to my sister and a great father to my nephews. Thank you to you and Phyllis for being so good to me over the years. Thank you for the times Phyllis and you took me down to the lake with our Timmies to watch the birds and the boats. One of my favourite memories. Thank you for my being able to have an Australian family in Sydney that I could visit. Covid brought some good in that we had some long phone chats and I got to know you better. I loved your stories about growing up in Sydney. I will miss those chats.
