Ron passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on December 11, 2021. He was doing what he loved, playing music on stage.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dolly. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandy of 51 years; son Dan (Candice); daughter Kelly (Rick); granddaughters Courtney, Beth, and Sarah; sister Joan; sister-in-law Lynn (Roy); nieces, and many dear friends.
Ron had a deep passion for all things music; from singing, songwriting, and playing guitar, to organizing open mic events and performing duties as a sound technician. His other great passion was motorcycles; from rebuilding vintage motorcycles to riding them across country. Above all he loved spending time enjoying life to its fullest with his adoring family and circle of wonderful friends. He had a master’s degree in Health Services Administration and worked for Alberta Health Services for many years, and then as a career consultant before retiring to focus on travel, playing music, and motorcycles. He supported his friends and family in all aspects of their lives and was a devoted grandpa to his three loving granddaughters, who learned so much from him.
Ron’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 23rd at The Parkview Community League located at 9135 146 Street in Edmonton from 1pm to 3pm. The event will feature live music, arranged by our great friends at The Northern Lights Folk Club, a song writers’ circle, food, and plenty of stories and memories.
Ron’s family is sincerely grateful to those at JT’s Bar and Grill for their quick, compassionate response, as well as the first responders and the staff of the Grey Nuns Hospital emergency department.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice.
Condolences from family and friends

“Eagle take my spirit, water take my bones, Father Earth take my flesh and turn it into stone, and Mother Sky take my song from the eagle on the wing, give it to the wind to ever sing.” -Ron Taylor, “Eagle Spirit”. I still hear your song, Brother. Miss you.
Ron will be sadly missed by all of our members in vintage motorcycle group here in Edmonton.
One of my favorite memories of Ron Taylor...
In early 2020 during our first covid lockdown, when everything seemed very dark and worrisome, Ron decided to post almost daily FB videos of his marvelous music and song. I always looked forward to his posts and enjoyed the positive, caring messages he had for all of us. His gift of music was uplifting and hit all the right notes for me. For this I am grateful.
