Loved by family and friends, William entered into eternal rest on April 4, 2023, with his family at his side. William was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (predeceased) for more than 62 years and he was the devoted father to William, Stephen (Laurel), and Lynda (Ed). Grandpa to Raffaele (Amanda), Colleen (Danny), Katie, Michael (Victoria), Alyssa (Nick), and Katherine. Great Grandpa to Hunter, Jackson, James, Anthony, Arya and Julia. William was predeceased by his brother Victor. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many cherished friends. William was a longtime Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign VE3KO, and made many friends around the world. He was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In addition, he spent many days at the Stephen Leacock Seniors Community Centre, taking courses and recreational classes. William will be remembered for his strong will, determination and fierce loyalty to family and friends. William will not be forgotten and his memory will live on.
A special thank you to the staff at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre/ Odette Cancer Centre for their dedication and care during his illness. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please send your condolences to the family on the guestbook page of Mr. Shaw's obituary.
Our deepest condolences to the family of our friend, Bill.
Glad to speak to you over the phone with your happy voice telling me all sorts of stories. I posted your phone number on my wall next to my work desk. When I looked at it, I said I will call Bill but got very busy with work and I forgot. When I saw Glen at RCL walking to our table, I sensed something and guessed it. You and Lil are remembered with our fond memories at the Legion.
Rest in peace Bill. May God's perpetual light shine upon you.
