Merhej, George Youssef passed away on January 21, 2021 at Windsor Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus at the age of 80. Survived by brother Jean and Leila (nee Rachwan) Merhej and sisters Antoinette Estephan (nee Merhej), Siham (nee Merhej) and Samir Nahhal, Georgette (nee Merhej) and Abe Naklie.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.George was a professor who loved to read and write articles about his beloved homeland of Lebanon.He was a humble soul who loved everything about life.He had a passion for his family and only wanted to see them happy.His infectious smile and his incredibly warm personality will be missed by everyone who knew him.He was well known within his community especially within the Italian community on Erie St. and the downtown core as he attended the Windsor Public Library almost daily.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the many Doctors and Nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital for taking such great care of George and reassuring them that he was in great hands.The family would also like to send thanks to all of George’s friends as well as family who took the time to continuously call and check up on George throughout these last few difficult weeks.
Arrangements have been entrusted by Janisse Funeral Home, there will be a private graveside ceremony Saturday January 23, 2021 at 1pm. There will also be a virtual Funeral Mass today at 6pm through St. Peter's Parish website please tune in time accordingly to view the service.
