MALLETT, John A.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, on October 16, 2021, at the young age of 98. He is now reunited with the love of his life Georgina Mallett (Deslippe, 2001). Beloved father of Shelley Elsliger, Dorie Deslippe (Vince Calamita), Mindee Minos (John), and John Mallett Jr. His beloved grandchildren Lynn Gignac, Christian Elsliger, Chelsea Elsliger (Jaxson Brown), Mackenzie Minos (Shane White), Joshua Minos (Courtney Campagna), and Caleb Minos who adored their Pippi.

John is predeceased by his parents George (1947) and Isabel (Auld, 1963) and his sister Patricia Gunn (2015) (Red, 2009). He was the son-in-law of Blanche Deslippe (1968) and Norman Deslippe (1971). Survived by sister-in law Dolly Deslippe (Garnet, 2015) and June Bolton (Julien Deslippe, 2014). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. John was a great friend to Francis and Sammy Minos. He developed numerous friendships throughout the decades.

John was a proud Canadian Veteran who served in WW2 with the RCR First Regiment. John’s working career also included Calverts as an Excise Officer then transferred to the Tunnel as a Customs Officer, where he retired after 30 years of service. Almost immediately upon retirement, he joined the Windsor-Essex County District School Board as a Custodian for 10 years.

A heart felt thank you to Seasons Amherstburg, where John resided for the last eight years while maintaining his independence and dignity. Special thanks to Dr. Henry Fortuna, Erie Shores Healthcare, and the many other service care providers for the exceptional care given over the years.

In lieu of flowers, John would appreciate the support to his local Legion branch 157.

John A. Mallett

Goodbye my family, my life has passed.
I've loved you all to the very last.
Weep not for me, but courage take.
Love each other for my sake.
For those you love don't go away
They walk beside you every day.
