Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

Timothy James Hickey

Co-owner and coach of Pathway Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling Club. After a lengthy illness, Tim passed away October 21, 2022, in his 28th year.

Beloved son of Stephanie and Donald Hickey. Best friend and brother of Ryan (Isabel) and Emma (Maveric). Cherished partner of Chelsea Rousson. Adored father of his beautiful cat Jake. Incredible friend and cousin of Paul Noble. Much loved cousin of Cory (Wendy,  Nolan).

Lovingly remembered by his family: Grandson of Ron Junk and the late Joan Junk, the late Paul Gravel, and Barbara Hickey. Adrienne, Steve, Margaret, Paul, Bernadette, Catherine, and Duncan Noble. Jennifer, Randy, and Nick Vanasse. Laurie and Hal Moore, Kim and Dave Armstrong, Shawn and Dana Hickey, Jessica (Jeremy) Berardini, Kerry and Paul Virgin, Sheena (Jake) Levesque, and Krissy (Matt) Lovesey.

Ryan, Tim, and Emma were inseparable. They were remarkable siblings because of their togetherness, friendship, supportiveness, and humour.

Tim was an award winning academic, athlete, and author. Tim and Ryan opened their dojo Pathway Jiu Jitsu in July 2012, when Tim was 18. For 10 years, they have continued to build this amazing “Pathway Family” with so many successful, happy, and devoted students. Tim volunteered tirelessly as a wrestling coach and was instrumental in continuing to grow wrestling in Ottawa.

One of Tim’s main passions in life was organ donations. He was honoured to have been an anonymous living donor twice in his young life. As an advocate and spokesperson for organ and tissue donations, he would be proud to know that after his passing, he continued to provide numerous life-changing and life-saving donations.

Tim devoted his entire life to helping others. He was kind, compassionate, caring, loving, and so much more. His altruism represents the best of what it is to be human.

Thank you to the heroic staff, doctors, nurses, social workers, peer supporters, and Step One Team at the QCH. You gave us years with him that we wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Friends are invited to visit at the Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 1 pm until the time of a Celebration of Life service at 4pm in the Kelly Chapel.

Incredibly sad to hear this. Tim was so helpful, knowledgeable, kind, generous of his time and incredibly dedicated to helping student athletes. He voluntarily coached with me at All Saints and supported us at OFSAA. He was an incredible human 💔My condolences to your entire family.
