In Flanders Field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I sailed with Sam as a young sailor in the early 70s. He was a good boss and turn out to be a good friend. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I knew him from his participation in two church congregations and found him to be a very kind, caring and friendly man who had a genuine interest in others. I always enjoyed our visits and conversations. He and Gwen were a wonderful couple and I know how much he missed her. My deep sympathy to the family and prayers for comfort and peace in the coming days. Rev. Karen Lynch
