Rose Hunter was known by many names—wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend and affectionately as Rosie. Rose passed away unexpectedly in her home in Whitby, Ontario, on September 7, 2022, at the age of 80. Predeceased by her loving husband Gary. Beloved mother to Chrissy (Scott) and Kim (Jason). Cherished grandma to Jocelyn, Bailey, Spencer and Palmer. Treasured sister to Dorothy and Sandy. Much-loved aunt to Shannon (Michael), Meghan, Nathan, Molly and many more. Sister-in-law to Joan (John) and Ron (Donna). The ninth of ten children, born to Gerald and Christena Dafoe, Rose is reunited with her siblings Dean, Harold, Isabel, Ronnie, Gwen, Lorraine and Leslie.
Rose was fiercely dedicated to her family and friends. And happiest when surrounded by all of them—whether it was at one of the many weekend parties at the cottage, a ski club gathering, or lunch with old friends catching up on everyone’s busy lives.
Rose was Hallmark movies’ biggest fan and no doubt their ratings will suffer as a result. She loved to bake and her treats will be missed by those lucky enough to have tasted them, especially her grandkids. Rose loved candles, wreaths and home decorating shows. Her condo was beautifully decorated with many wreaths and the delicious candle scents will be remembered by all who visited (including those who worried her devotion to candles would eventually burn the condo or cottage down.) Rose loved her semi-annual shopping days, visiting all of the beautiful little shops in Lakefield with her family and dear friend Heather.
A visitation will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road, Scarborough starting at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 13th. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens immediately following service. Friends and family are welcome to gather for refreshments at McDougall & Brown following the interment.

Dear Chrissy, Kim & Family, I'm sorry for your loss. One of my memories of your Mom was when she offered to have my Bridal Shower at your home. It was wonderful, beautiful and such a lovely thing to do for me. Your Mom Rose was such a beautiful, kind & caring lady. Remember all the memories of her and keep them in your heart. My condolences

Dear Chris, Kim and family. It is with deep heart sympathy I send my condolences on the passing of Rosie. Kim and your children will miss Rossy greatly. On a brighter note you spent a good number of times together at the cottage and at home. Your family will never forget their aunt Rosie. Chrissy I am very glad that you can be with Kim at this sad time.
I will also remember Rosie and of the Good time at the cottages and her constant care and phone calls after Lorraine's passing.
May God Bless each one of you ---In Jesus name
Love David
