Passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side, just days shy of her 91st birthday, on April 17th at Orchard Villa Long Term Care Home. Born in L’Aquila, Italy, she arrived in Toronto with husband Giovanni (predeceased 1995) in 1960, and lived in the same house for over 53 years.
She loved to garden and to cook, but above all she loved her family. Always a hard worker, she found her greatest joy in caring for her granddaughters. She leaves behind her only child Clara (George), grand-daughters Jessica (Mark) and Angela (Kyle), and great-grandson Rowan. Missed and forever loved by family in Canada, Italy, the United States and Australia.
A special thank you to the compassionate staff at Orchard Villa, for all their kindness over the last 6 years, but especially for their efforts over the past month.
In these difficult times, a private family interment will take place.
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation, Covid-19 Emerging Needs Fund.
Rest in peace Nonna.
Non Piangete per me
Perche vi guardo
Sempre dal cielo,
Vi ho amato sempre
Quando ero con voi.
Adesso, vi amo ancora di
Piu ed io prego sempre
Per voi e vi aspetto
Accanto a Gesu.

View MoreWe were very sorry to hear about the passing of Zia Assunta. In this troubling time, its the news you expect, but are never ready for. I have many fond childhood memories of times spent around Zia. She was the matriarch of our extended family growing up at Lauder. Her journey will continue in our hearts. Our deepest condolences to Clara, George, Jessica, Angela, and the rest of the family and friends.
