Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

Passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates on Sunday, October 22nd at the age of 96.
Beatrice was born on September 30, 1921 in Buckinghamshire, England. After WWII, Beatrice married Edmund Lepkey then a Canadian soldier and immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1945, leaving behind her parents Bertram and Edith, sisters, Janet, Edith and brother Robert – all now deceased. Bea and Ed made their home in what was then Langstaff, (now Thornhill) where they had four children Gayheart, Ruth, Tearle and Lloyd. Beatrice was a long-time employee of the Federal government and an active member of the Anglican Church.
Fondly called “Nanna Bea; or Nanna”, she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Angela, Ashleigh, Matthew, Ian, Alyson, Patrick and Kyle and great-grandchildren Harley, Zachary, Mason, Finn and Jack. Bea loved to cook and bake, and her butter tarts, shortbread, Christmas cake, chocolate eclairs and chicken pot pie were family favourites. She loved animals and being surrounded by children and babies.
A grave-side service will be held at 11:30 on November 17th at Erskine Cemetery in Pickering where she will be interred beside her son Lloyd. A private celebration of life will follow. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Brenda Cairns and Dr. Phil Libby as well as the staff of Hillsdale Estates for their tireless compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a local children’s charity or animal shelter.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast “ – 1 Peter 5:10
