The Ontario Association for Families of Children with Communication Disorders is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our founding members and Past President - Dr. Genese Warr-Leeper. Genese was a friend, mentor and resource within our group for over 25 years. There was no stronger advocate for children with speech and language disorders than Genese. She was able to explain the impact of speech-language disorders succinctly and provide the evidence for Speech-Language Pathology services. It is because of all that she was that her voice will be sorely missed. We will continue to advocate for speech-language services as we know she would want us to do.

Genese was always so bright spirited and positive in her outlook. I always enjoyed our time together, exchanging knowledge and discussing fascinating topics of conversation. We always spoke about her family, and she was so very proud to tell me about each and everyone of you and how she enjoyed her grandchildren. Genese was a very special lady, I will never forget her smile that lit up her eyes! May your memories comfort you during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Jana

Dear Rob and TJ: Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your wonderful mom Genese. Both she and your dad were my profs. in the Masters of Communication Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology) Program at Western. Genese was an incredible and insightful prof., full of sparkling wit, energy, humour and passion as she shared her vast knowledge of Child Language Disorders with us and imparted her incredible wisdom in her clinical practice capacity. Later, when I joined Peel Board of Education in Mississauga, Ontario, Genese was a frequent guest lecturer for our full-day conferences. She left an indelible impression upon all of her students, and I applied a great deal of what she taught me, in my practice of speech-language pathology. Best of all, your mom was a warm, vivacious and caring person. Her heart was always with home and family, and amusing and endearing anecdotes of your childhood were often shared with us, when she gave a lecture. I am so sorry for this great loss. Your mom will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for sharing her a bit with others. Robin Eisenberg

Definitely an amazing lady! It’s not the time we spend on earth but the “differences“ we make.

Genese made a difference in everything she did.... outstanding Mother and Grandmother, great teacher and mentor, great neighbour and friend, and a truly genuine, warm and fabulous human being. She loved everyone and was always putting others first. She always had something nice to say, gave you hugs with her kind words, and best of all her contagious laugh.

Her husband, boys and family were always her greatest joy.

Genese will definitely be missed, but thank goodness for all of the memories and her legacies.

Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
