John “Mel” Wray passed away in Calgary on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the age of 90 years.
Mel was born in Calgary and married for 67 years to the love of his life Blanche. They had two children Debbie (Kim) Holmlund, Jack (Wanda) Wray; grandchildren Russell Holmlund, Laurelin (Byron) Lambert, Chantelle Wray and great-grandchild Liam.
Mel worked for Imperial Oil for 34 years in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Upon retirement in Calgary he discovered that retirement was his dream job and spent the next 34 years enjoying it. He and Blanche were able to travel; Europe, Hawaii, Canada from coast to coast, and most of the U.S.A. They spent 14 years summering at Canyon Camp in Radium, B.C. and 20 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. Their last trip was an Alaskan Cruise. Dad spent his last 18 months at Agecare Glenmore, with Mom going twice a day to be with him.
The family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care he received, especially the Woodbine Group. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Condolences from family and friends

Blanche & family. Very sorry to hear of Mel's passing. worked with Mel in Edmonton. Later, when I was on the road I would visit with the Wrays's in Saskatoon. Always enjoyed Mel's company. A fine gentleman. Hope your memories are a comfort at this difficult time.
