The family of Walter Stevenson are deeply saddened by his passing on June 20, 2020.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Ruth; children: Jeff (Sabrina) Stevenson and Alisa (Andrew) Porter; Rhonda (Jonathan) Kowal, and Valerie Fleury; grandchildren: Emma, Aiden, Levi, Mila and Parker; Kiana, Nathan, Kiki, Savary, and Violet; siblings: Bob (Kathy) Stevenson; Geordie Stevenson; and Mary (Les) Stevenson; as well as nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Walt was predeceased by his parents George and Betty Stevenson.
Walt was beloved by everyone he met. His big heart and kind spirit meant he always took time to get to know even those with whom he had the smallest interaction and he was available to whomever needed him. Walt cared deeply about his family and was an amazing friend and mentor to many. From humble beginnings growing up in rural Alberta, Walt had a zest for life, from working on a tall ship sailing in the Whitsundays to climbing Machu Picchu, he never stopped dreaming of the next adventure. Walt lived by his motto in life, “trust and integrity”. The Enbridge Ride for Cancer was a cause close to Walt’s heart, as a cancer survivor he participated in the ride for six years from 2014 - 2019.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to this cause under Walt’s page for Team Adventure (Participant ID: 241264-7) http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/lovingmemory. Due to COVID, a private service will be held at the family’s request.

What a blessing that our paths have crossed in this lifetime. I am grateful for the joyful, insightful, and loving times spent with Walt Stevenson. As one of his teachers and guides at the Ford Institute and Lumen Worldwide (I think I probably learned more from him than he learned from me,) I am honored to have witnessed his willingness to go deep and to understand his inner life. Walt was a man of great integrity, kindness, and generosity. I will carry his spirit in my heart.
Walt has always been and will always be a man of integrity, strength, wisdom and love. I am so grateful to have met such a man, for his mentorship and his friendship. Deepest condolences to Ruth and the family.
