Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home.
The first I've known Jean less than a year and in that short time she made me feel loved and a part of the family. In fact, I think the first night I met Jean bonded us for good. Kyle took me to dinner to meet his grandparents within the first week of our relationship but promptly had to leave about 10 minutes into our entrees forgetting he had volleyball. He offered for me to stay with Jean and Lorne and said he'd be back in a couple of hours. I was naturally nervous but we left the restaurant and went to Jean and Lorne's house down the street. Jean and I looked through photo albums and with Lorne pouring, polished off an entire bottle of white before Kyle got back. We played cribbage, drank more, and I ended up having to leave my car there overnight.
Waking up the next day with a slight headache, I remember telling Kyle "you have the best grandma." I am grateful for the many nights like this that followed.
I love how excited Jean got about anything any of us were doing. You could always count on her for getting you to feel more excited yourself. Love you Jean and I promise to try to keep up your streak and not to let Lorne win cribbage.
Sorry to hear of Jean’s passing .
My mom and dad, Howard and Millie Elliott, had many fond memories of Jean and Lorne in the Doubles Club at St Mark’s.
I remember Jean’s quiet nature and kind spirit.
