Peacefully, on Sunday, January 20, 2019, Vernal Flemmings passed away at the age of 89. A loving husband and dedicated family man, Vernal will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Flemmings. A devoted father to Lynford (Carol), Lester (Sandra), Sandra Arsenault, Paul, Lorenzo (Karen) and the late Janice.
Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren including Sophia, Jesse, Shanella, Steven, Shawn, Shea, Joshua, Kerry, Kyse, Jemall, Tyrone, Samara, Ty, Jayden, Zack, Amari and Jalen.
Great grandpa to 16 great grandkids including Jaiden, Laila, Kayla, Alyssa, Kalani, Savannah, Kyrie, Tianna, Ethan, Elias, Kiya, Kaiden, Lorenzo, Greyson, Kita and Keyara.
Survived by his brothers Clarence, Noel, Stead and Cecil, along with his sisters Daphne and Madge. He will be deeply missed by his brother-in-law Gallant (George Messam).
Born in Manchester, Jamaica on October 4, 1929 he will be missed by his extended family, friends, colleagues and the many lives he has touched.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Mount Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (905-443-3376) on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Whitby Christian Assembly on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a final viewing being held before the service from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. The church is located at 100 Rossland Road West, Whitby (905-430-0710).
