Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

DONALDSON, Wallace “Wally”

Wally passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Thursday, June 24, 2021.  Son of the late Harold and Doreen Donaldson.  Father of Kelsey and Tianna Gautreau of Moncton, New Brunswick.
Dear brother of Wendy Seminsky (Steve), Rob Donaldson (Marie) and Karen Sararas (late husband Gary).
Crazy beloved uncle of Darryl (Candice), Jaime (Rod), Kristy (Mike), Steven (Karen), Shawn and Stacy (Stephen).  Missed by several great nieces and great nephews.  Long time friend and companion of Danielle Laperriere.

Wally most recently worked at Rockburne Bros. for several years where he took much pride in accommodating and caring for every one of his clients.   However, his pride and joy throughout his life was his significant involvement with the Sporting Community of Durham Region.  Among the many aspects of  his career, first as a Sports writer, then Sports Editor of the Oshawa Times and color commentating for the Oshawa Generals, allowed Wally to  meet and acquire many long time friends and acquaintances at every level of sport throughout the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 24 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Oshawa Curling Club, 226 Bond Street East.

RIP Wally, you did a good job.

Due to COVID restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held in August.   Exact date to be announced.

My sincere condolences to the family. Wally was such a positive person and always came into work with a huge smile on his face. I will never forget all of the talks we've had and also how we would always joke around with one another. Wally gave off such a positive energy whenever he was around and it lifted everyone. Whenever he left the office I would say "Have a great night" and his response would be "You have a better one!" until I switched it around and used it on him, it lit up his face knowing that I started to use his wording on him. He showed me many articles which he wrote and was very proud of the work he had done and also shared many memories he had while writing for the sports industry. Wally I know you're resting now with a cold one in your hand. You will be missed but I will hold all of the memories in my heart. Rest in paradise Wally!
