Obituary Overview

Carol Ann Dubeau (nee Bridges)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and mother, Carol Dubeau. Carol passed away at home February 9th, 2019, surrounded by her loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73.
Born in Midland on December 15, 1945 She had a vibrant personality and a mind of her own. Always a little mischievous she had many funny stories of childhood antics.
At just 13 years old she met the love of her life and best friend, Michael. Together they had 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Mimi. Michael would often tell Carol that the second batch of “cookies” turned out as good as the first. Married for over 52 years they were rarely apart.
After graduating high school Carol attended Teacher’s College in Toronto. After teaching for a few years she made the decision to stay at home and raise her four daughters - the hardest job of all.
Carol was a beautiful, generous, thoughtful person who often went out of her way to let people know she was thinking about them. She loved to dance and was always the life of the party (a trait she undoubtedly passed on to her daughters). Carol was a gifted artist and extremely creative. An avid golfer she had 2 holes in one, the last coming just this past summer. She was well known for her theme parties, and Oldtimers Hockey tournament variety shows that many people still talk about years later.
Carol was extremely witty and her sense of humour never left her even during this difficult time. Although her battle was unexpected and short, she fought it in that strong, stubborn way that was truly her. Throughout this time the phone never stopped ringing, the visitors kept coming, the food kept being dropped off and flowers filled the room. For these acts of kindness she was grateful but they were also a true reflection and testament to the type of woman she was - remarkable, unique and unforgettable. Things were never dull with her around and
we are certain Heaven is a lot more fun now that she is there.
Carol leaves behind her husband Michael, daughters Lisa (Rob Fortin), Kelly (Brad Price), Angela Dubeau and Stefanie (Matt Weissflog). Grandchildren Hannah and Aidan Fortin, Ben and Finn Price, Shelby and Andrew Snowden, Lucas and Carter Weissflog. Her loving sister Donna (Bob Todd) and brother John Bridges (Tammy). Carol is pre-deceased by her parents Vida (Alfred Tremblay) and Donald Bridges. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and many friends and family.
The family will be receiving friends at the Salon Funéraire –Penetanguishene – Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. A reception and celebration of Carol’s life will be held following Mass. If desired, donations to the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre or the Gail LaChappelle Foundation (Care of the Georgian Bay Hospital Foundation) in Carol’s memory would be greatly appreciated
