May wife Gaile and I would like to express our condolences on the passing of your father. My wife remembers sitting on a shelf with Herbie when it gave way and they and the books were dumped on the floor. I remember the two of you as gifted. talented, and personable students I hadj the pleasure to teach at V.P.S. I am sure your father contributed much to your growth.

While I did not herb well, i met him a number of times at friends' events and I know he was well respected by them as a good friend, always willing to help them and a learned conversationalist. I know he will be missed by them as well as his family. I am sorry for their loss.

Herb Lumby was a truly fine man, taken from us much too soon. I am so grateful for our long friendship and the many ways he enriched my life. I will miss you forever Herb.
