1941-2022
William Arthur Tilly, M.D. passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa following a brief illness at 81 years of age. Born unto parents William Graham and Anna Mariah (nee Knight) Tilly in 1941, William, along with his sister Joyce, always cherished the close bond of family. Throughout his life, he was a devout Christian and faithfully loved his Lord.
In his younger years, William’s intellect was rarely matched. He was fascinated by science and would often be found gazing at the stars or constructing radios. Always first in his class, he excelled in his studies at Bloor Collegiate High School. He then continued his education at The University of Toronto, studying medicine. Following his internship at Toronto East General Hospital (now Michael Garron Hospital), William served his community in East York (Toronto) as a General Medical Practitioner with much dedication and compassion for almost 40 years.
William also greatly enjoyed his time of leisure in the company of close friends and family. Affectionately known as “Doc” amongst the ham radio community, his call sign “VE3GFT” was easily recognized by many kindred spirits. His presence on the airways will be greatly missed.
In his senior years, William relocated to Ajax to be closer to his family. It is there that he found a renewed zest for life, learned to enjoy dancing and swimming, and made many new and endearing friendships along the way.
Survived by his beloved sister Joyce and cherished nieces Victoria and Catherine, William now rests and has found peace in the arms of his Lord.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me lie down
in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He
restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
