View MorePassed away in his sleep on Tues, Sept 12 at 2:53pm. He is predeceased by his parents, Rundle (1991) and Marie (1990), and survived by his wife and partner-in-travel, Judy, as well as his two sons, Brian and Paul. Paul and wife Sarah are expecting their first child, a daughter, in October. It was Larry's final wish to be present at the birth of his first grandchild, Violet. However, a protracted battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for the past several years had taken its toll and robbed him of this chance. Larry worked as a Chrysler Autoworker for 34 years having started on the gate line, moving up to Inspector and eventually retiring as an electrician. He was a lifelong member of The Windsor Flying Club and Bruce Trail Society. He had a passion for photography, hiking, sailing, scuba diving and flying. An avid outdoorsman, Larry shared his love of adventure as a Leader with the Boys Scouts of Canada for more than 25 years, serving at the group and district levels. A jovial and boisterous man, Larry will be missed by friends, family and co-workers alike. In his final moments Larry was fortunate to have been surrounded by friends and family while his son, Paul, played his favorite song on the bagpipes. Memorial visitation will be held this Saturday, September 16 from 2:30pm until 4:30pm at Victoria Greenlawn Funeral Home (1525 Hwy. 3, Oldcastle, ON, 519-969-3939) with a Memorial Service in the chapel at 4:30 pm. The service will be officiated by Rev. Laura Jo Marzec of Roseland Trinity United Church. The Stewart family would like to extend their appreciation to the tireless staff at Huron Lodge for caring for Larry these last few years.
