Dear Downie Family,
Deepest condolences from my family to yours. I lost my husband Angus on April1, 2017 to a GBM brain tumour. Angus was a Hip fan from the age of 18. I got him to see the Hip in August 2016 in London, it was his last concert and our son’s last. I volunteer with the Brain Tumour Foundation if Canada and my goal is to help raise funds to find a cure to save others.
Much Love,

My husband and I would see Gord and the band whenever they came to Halifax back in the 80's. We have followed them throughout the years and greatly miss such a great talent.

Ever since I was 12 I was a fan of the hip. Gord will go down in history as an icon and a true inspiration to all of Canada. The man loved this nation and all who occupy it and we all send the same love back. RIP

Like many Canadiens I grew up listening to the Hip. I was just starting high school the year Phantom Power came out. It was the soundtrack of our high school days. I've seen the Hip many times an was extremely lucky to meet them all. My sister had got me back stage passes to the show on Citadel Hill in 2002. After the show my sister was talking to Gord an he told her about the after party. He then looked directly at me an said "you should come too". Can you imagine the feeling. Just got invited to an after party with the Hip by Gord. Pretty much the greatest night of my life. They all treatment me like they've know me there whole life.

I knew when the final show was announced I had to say goodby to Gord. He was my idol growing up. So I bought a ticket to the Toronto show jumped on a plane an away I went. The most emotional concert there will ever be.

Thank you Gord for all inspiration. My heart goes out to your family an friends.
