In Loving Memory of Donald John Egleston
EGLESTON, Donald John
Sept. 27th, 1943 – Dec. 11th, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donald from complications of Parkinson’s. Don was born to parents John Charles Egleston and Margaret Egleston (Ligget) in Regina Sk. He graduated University of Saskatchewan (U of S) Law and practised law in Regina and Vancouver before spending the rest of his career at UBC College of Law, firstly at the U.B.C. Law Clinic and then as a classroom lecturer in the field of Criminal Law. His many students often remember him fondly, especially if something “ridiculous happens in Court” as Don had many interesting stories of his days in Court with his students (as well as other peoples’ days in Court). Don married the former Patricia Dianne Kitzul, a U of S Law graduate and practising Regina lawyer before moving to B.C. in 1972. Don was predeceased by his parents and is survived by and sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, his sister Irene (Terri) and her husband Wayne Maier, brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor Kitzul (Verla), Victoria MacMillan (Arnold) and Rosalind Hetland, many nieces and nephews, as well as the Cuddihy cousins back East. He will be remembered by his colleagues and friends, as well as his former students who were assisted by him in following their prospective career paths. Don had requested that there be no service at this time.
