In Loving Memory


Rick was born in Winnipeg Manitoba.

He was an Air Cadet from 1967 – 1968. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from Jan. 1972 to Dec 1982. This included postings to Masset (BC), Kingston (ON), Ottawa (ON) and three tours in Alert (NWT), for which he received The Special Service Medal. He was hired by the Canadian Security Establishment in 1993 as an incinerator operator and gradually, through RCMP and US Locksmith Security Institute became a valued High-Security Locksmith. Upon retirement in 2014 (after a total of 33 years service) he moved to Victoria BC, where he joined the Juan de Fuca Sr. Centre. Over the next five years, he became an accomplished wood-worker, artist, teacher and valued member of the Woodshop.

I am so very sad to read of Rick’s passing. I knew him for many, many years and was honoured to host his retirement lunch and meet his family.
