I will always remember, with fond memories our hike into Top of The World Park. It was a beautiful day and her cheerfulness and love of BC Parks radiated through the Rocky Mountains.
My heartfelt condolences to all that knew and loved her.

Nick, Rob, Kevin, you have my deepest sympathies and respect for your loss. My heart is broken and aches for you…and for all of us who knew Karen and loved her.

I write this remembrance with a heavy heart, however all my memories of time spent with Karen at work or at play are light and bright recollections. Karen was a dear friend of mine for many years. I always admired her passion at work. She really knew her onions – which is a phrase I learned from her - and true about her expertise. She fought with integrity and depth of knowledge to protect the reputation of land management. She spoke truth to power.

And she was fun. She, Yvonne and I formed a close trio – the Triangle. We shared many birthday celebrations and many visits over a drink and appies that fuelled long deep talks to unpack and share our joys, dreams and sorrows in life.

Karen was the most accomplished host (with help from Nick) and her Christmas parties were my favorite celebration of any season. Her invitations were creative and enticing. Who could resist the desire to attend when her salutation read “Hey all you favourite silky truffles and nut clusters:”, or something equally quirky and inviting.

She was a delight. She was an artist. She had style. She was caring. I will miss her, forever.

I worked directly with Karen on the Conservation Lands program. She was incredibly passionate about this program and her dedication and sustained effort was truly inspiring. She leaves a tangible legacy and her memory will live on in the special places she helped protect.

We knew and loved Karen as a daughter and are very sad at her passing at a young age.
Karen and Nick were made for each other, she inspired Nick to enjoy with her the love for travel and the outdoor life.
Her photography was beautiful and at times haunting.
We will miss her so much.
