We are heartbroken to share that on July 23, 2018, our precious daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend died by suicide in Langley, BC. It was a beautiful summer day full of promise, the presence of loving family and friends and guidance for the future. Even so, Victoria could not see a way forward, her thinking so clouded by depression and emotional pain. She was a brave, loving and sensitive girl who loved her family and friends deeply.
Victoria Elizabeth Bourdeau was born in Surrey, BC and grew up there attending Betty Huff Elementary, North Ridge Elementary and Clayton Heights Secondary schools. She also attended North Otter Elementary in Aldergrove.
Victoria’s love of music was obvious very early in her life and she pursued writing songs and playing piano and guitar with passion. She discovered in high school that she was also a very talented artist, particularly drawing. Victoria treasured all of her family and friends and loved spending time with them. She really enjoyed swimming and had a soft spot for animals.
A celebration of Victoria’s life will be held at People’s Church in Surrey, BC on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00. There will be some time after the service to have refreshments and share our memories and comfort one another. Victoria once said that she wouldn’t want anyone wearing black when she died, so we will seek to honour that.
As we live, please be kind to one another. Share your struggles and joys and fears, be present and patient in each other’s journeys. And when love seems to fail – because sometimes love is not enough to ward off health conditions – then love more, pray more, talk more, learn more, live more.
Despite her death, let love remain.
